The SAGE SPEY 2nd generation reels: Improved and refined
A SPEY reel must meet specific criteria for spey casting: • Balancing the rod it is intended for. • Ensuring optimal storage of spey casting specific lines when retrieving.
The new generation of SAGE SPEY reels combines all these criteria SCS (sealed carbon system) disk brake A brake button adjustable on 39 indexed positions that allows a precise and reproducible adjustment of the brake. New sealed O-rings to better withstand compression and last longer A new double ratchet system to prevent coil runaway during throws
• The location of the holes in the spool and the frame allow for an ideal mass distribution when the reel is mounted on its rod. • The reel foot has been slightly offset to improve the balance of the rod / reel assembly • The edges of the frame and spool have been rounded to improve line glide and prevent wear when retrieving. • The closed frame also avoids any issues with the shooting line getting stuck between the spool and the reel frame. • The spool edge is also wider for better control of the spool during fights
• Size 5/6/7 is ideal for light rods and fine summer fishing for 11’ to 13’ rods • Size 6/7/8 the all-terrain size for rods up to 13’6 • Size 8/9/10 for powerful 14 to 15’ rods
