Small pelagic fish like the sardine, the anchovy has similarities to the latter. However, it is smaller and more streamlined, which allows it to be used whole and therefore to be more attractive to some predatory fish. Its delicate flesh requires that the product be lashed with very fine elastic thread in order to be cast, but it is a bait of choice for many species.
