Whether on a
stake, a
rod pod or a
buzz bar, in your range of rod pod accessories you must ensure to purchase rod supports to hold the heel of your rod, as they are typically not included. Be aware that when we talk about fishing rod supports we are not talking about the rod pod in general, but the small piece to screw on which grips the heel of your rod, also called “butt grip” or “rod rest” in English. Therefore, you must buy as many as you have rods, and you will need to screw them. If you screw them onto buzz bars they will need to be well aligned, some come with a lock nut for this, otherwise add small seals that you can tighten more or less. There are butt grips that do not grip the rod, to use for a rod placed horizontally in open water, but if you fish with raised rods and/or in the presence of obstacles you will need to choose a rod rest that will hold your heel. The most renowned are the black label
Fox, the
Carp Spirit supports and the
Nash, notably their Butt Lock.
