A key element of the
luggage in traditional trout fishing inevitably comes with an old basket, that is to say a wicker satchel that the fisherman wears on his shoulder and in which he puts his small equipment, but especially his catches, preferably on a few leaves or ferns. The basket has the advantage of remaining rigid so that the fish are not folded or compressed, and the wicker allows air to pass through for ventilation, moreover the plastic satchels imitating wicker can also be ventilated. However, practices have evolved, and for fishermen who return their fish to the water a wicker basket is useless and is often replaced by a fabric satchel. Among the most represented brands for trout baskets and satchels there are Plastilys, of French manufacture, or the Water Queen satchels.
