The popper is THE surface lure par excellence! For many years, shore and boat fishers have been using this lure in different environments (fresh and saltwater) to chase pikes, perches, black bass, sea bass, etc. Known for the famous "pop" it makes during use, the popper is often too rarely used, or used improperly. Indeed, the purpose of this lure is to mimic a baitfish being chased by a predator and trying to escape by jumping out of the water. Fishermen tend to restrict its use to the chases they can observe. But the popper is not only used in these conditions since it can be used when there is absolutely no surface activity. The sound and vibrations induced during animations can arouse the predatory instinct of a predator who is far away. As for the animations, they can be more or less violent depending on the intensity of the "pop" we want to make. Animating a popper is a bit technical, but once you've mastered the twitching gestures, everything becomes simpler. Just make short, sharp pulls with the tip of the rod while slowly retrieving the line with your reel. This animation will give the lure a swimming action punctuated by left-right oscillations with a strong displacement of water at the surface. Within this ray, you will find the popper that will meet your needs from the biggest brands such as Rapala or Berkley.
