The pike soft shad lure is widely the most used among all
pike soft lures. It is the lure that most resembles a predator prey fish in its shape.
Its tail will give it a swaying motion and regular vibrations, more or less rapid depending on the model and which may trigger the attack of a pike. The most recognized are the
Fox Rage Replicant, the Black Minnow and Blaster Shad from
Fiiish, the One Up from
Sawamura in 25 cm for pike, or the Perch or Trout from
Savage Gear.
Other models of soft lures that retain the general shape of a fish but do not have a conventional tail fin are sometimes classified as shads, and are very effective for pike fishing. These are the
Biwaa Divinator which have a fish shape but a metal palette in the tail, or the Line Thru or Pulse tail from Savage Gear which offer more realistic fins and which the pike may sometimes prefer. Beware they are differentiated from simple shads to arm yourselves, and these lures will be found in the armed soft lure section.
If a shad for pike will often be the same as a black bass shad, the size will change for a zander shad and a perch shad, necessarily smaller.
