Although these floats have properties similar to the Skimmer in terms of stems, bristles and sensitivity, it is the shape of the body that sets them apart, these having a much rounder profile. This gives the float ultimate stability and allows it to be easily controlled in running water conditions, perfect for use on rivers.
The body shape means the float can be held stationary or held against the current to achieve a certain type of presentation in moving water, slowing the bait down without the body of the float rising out of the water. Because of the rounder body shape of this model, if the line passes around the outside of the body at a sharp angle, this can damage the line, especially when moving the float up or down. To overcome this problem, these floats are fitted with an inline system with a small piece of silicone going through the float, thus completely eliminating line damage.
The metal stem versions of the float are suited to situations where stability is a priority, allowing you to maintain a super stable and stationary bait even in difficult and windy conditions. The carbon stem version is better suited to fast fishing situations where reduced tangles are a priority during a quick in and out expedition, or when you are aiming to catch fish on the drop, allowing the float to 'trail' the shot down as it falls through the water. The carbon itself is thin for ultimate performance, cutting through the water cleanly so you don't have annoying delays during surface skimming in calm weather.
Available sizes (metal stem and carbon stem): 0.5 g, 0.75 g, 1 g, 1.5 g, 2 g, 2.5 g, 3 g, 4 g.
The Guru natural pole float range explained:
This particular range of floats has been in development for a long time, we are pretty sure you have seen various samples used by our consultants and in films for quite some time now! However, we have continuously refined and expanded the range during the design and production phase to produce a full collection of floats suited to a diverse range of tasks on natural sites across rivers, canals and still waters. Finally, they have arrived!
The range includes eight different models covering many shapes and sizes, all having specific uses in different situations. You have no doubt noticed that the floats have been thoroughly tried and tested by our international team of fishers, with personalities like Matt Godfrey, James Dent, Steve Ringer, Frankie Gianoncelli and Andy Bennett all contributed to their production. Great care and many modifications have been made to the lengths and diameters of the stems and bristles, so each size is unique and perfect for the situation in question.
The key feature that distinguishes this range of floats from anything we or others have ever produced before is the Elastilex paint finish, which gives the floats ultimate strength, durability and longevity. This finish means that the high quality balsa bodies of the float are protected by an ultra thin and incredibly durable elastic coating that wraps around the body, preventing any body damage due to wear, impact or line cuts, thus reducing the risks of the floats taking in water. The paint finish is dark in colour, which according to our chief fishers, was important since these floats have been used on clear and natural sites, the dark body blending into the water allowing ultimate focus on high visibility bristles.
Features: • Round body profile • Ultimate stability • Inline system to prevent line damage • Carbon and wire versions
