The 12 and 13 foot carp rods (Between 3.60 and 3.90 meters) form the basic equipment that generally all carp anglers started their carp fishing with. It's a carp rod of a perfect length to be able to cast far, or when you have obstacles on the bank (weeds, drowned trees) that hinder putting the fish in the landing net. The 13 foot rods will be the most efficient for larger sizes who know how to make the most of the nerve of their rod, otherwise for the other anglers a 12 foot carp rod will allow them to cast further. We will also have to take into account power, expressed in lbs, 3.5 and 3.75lbs represent the maximum to aim for for long-distance casting, 3 and 3.25 lbs are a good compromise and below these powers are to be chosen for fighting small fish. The most widely distributed carp rods are from Fox, Nash, Daïwa and Shimano brand. Finally, to place by boat or for more convenient transportation, it is preferable to opt for 3G carp rods.
