A Buzz Bar is a bar with threaded holes, on which we place detectors or rear rod rests. Its name simply comes from "buzzer", which means bite alarm in English. There are two main ways to use a buzz bar for carp: either fixing it on a rod pod, or fixing it on stakes, with one or two stakes for more stability. Various options should be checked before buying a buzz bar. The number and location of the threaded holes. Indeed, if to put on stakes no matter their location, generally on the rod pods the locations of the holes must be precise, and only the buzz bar specifically designed for such rod pod will be compatible. For a buzz bar with stakes it's simpler, choose between a threaded hole in the middle, practical and fast but unstable, or choose a buzz bar with 2 threaded holes, and it will be stable. Note that some buzz bars are adjustable, meaning the two threaded holes at each end can be moved more or less with a mini telescopic bar and thus the detectors can be spread apart to leave more space between the rods. Finally, regarding the material, like for the rod pods the stainless steel buzz bars will be heavier but much more resistant to torsion and humid conditions. The best-known brands are buzz bar Cygnet, Fox Black label and Carp Spirit. It can be noted that a new brand is offering, Korda with their Singlez range.
