The SG8 baitcasting reel series offers power, style, performance and a wide range of truly useful features for the angler. The 100 and 250 size versions are perfect for casting light lures such as softbaits and crankbaits, but they can also handle medium to heavy lures such as larger softbaits or jerkbaits, thus offering anglers great versatility. These reels are built to be strong and rigid thanks to their one-piece aluminium frame and are ideal for taming all kinds of predators, including pike, black-bass, zander and even perch and trout. You will finally discover the benefits of our exclusive DuraGrease, Line-ID, external centrifugal brake and finely adjusted gear ratios...
Features : • EDP painted aluminium frame and side plates • Precise brake knob • Separate stainless steel spool • External centrifugal brake • DuraGrease • 7+1 Steel ball bearings (including two Japanese BB) • EVA handle • Worm gear shaft in brass • Two ratios available • Line-ID • Dragclicker (ratchet brake) • Hinged side cover on size 100 • Audible combat brake
The weight settings on the 100 size casting reels are done by opening the side plate. The weights slide a few millimeters along their guide (there is a notch). By moving the weights away from the spool axle, the centrifugal force increases and the spool rotates more freely. A too free spool can generate an overflow of the rotation causing a "backlash". Therefore, you need to move the weights according to the inertia of the lure, the wind conditions and the angler's skill. Normally we balance the weights. Therefore, there are four positions : * No engaged weight * Two opposing weights engaged * Three weights engaged in triangle * All weights engaged
On the 250 sizes, the centrifugal brake system is magnetic. By turning the notched knob located opposite the handle, a series of small magnets are moved closer to or further from the spool. In position zero, the spool is totally free, in position 10 it is heavily braked. The angler, depending on their skill, the aerodynamics of the lure, or the direction of the wind, can thus finely adjust the rotation braking of the spool, maximizing casting distances while reducing the risk of "backlash".
