WoundClot™ Veterinary is a new generation hemostatic gauze designed for the control of bleeding from traumatic wounds, including moderate to severe bleeding. It applies quickly and easily to the wound. For use by trained emergency responders.
When the WoundClot™ Trauma gauze is applied to the bleeding site, it rapidly transforms from a flexible, dry gauze into a thick, tenacious, and expanding 3D gel matrix. This stable, solid, and foldable gel structure enables rapid and stable hemostasis using several mechanisms of action:
WoundClot™ Trauma absorbs up to 2,500% of its weight in blood and remains actively absorbing for up to 24 hours. The 3D gel matrix of WoundClot™ allows for the concentration of platelets, red blood cells, and clotting factors, thus creating an environment conducive to coagulation. The flexible 3D gel matrix of WoundClot™ adheres to the surrounding tissues of the wound and will not be dislodged by patient movement, wound manipulation, or high-pressure bleeding. "WoundClot™'s advanced functional molecular groups stimulate the coagulation process by converting the coagulation factors Plasma Thromboplastin Antecedent or PTA (XI) and Hageman (XII) from inactive to active (XIa and XIIa)."
