Representing the best of Savage Gear technology and innovation, the flagship model of our baitcasting reels is called SG10. It is packed with ideas and innovations to help you achieve your fishing goals. In addition to the obvious impressive features, such as stainless steel ball bearings 10+1, a machined gear, DuraGrease and an aluminum frame + housing (super strong and rigid), the real highlight of this SG10 BC is the external centrifugal brake. This brake makes casting easier and especially fighting against large fish, it increases casting distance, reduces the number of backlashes, and reduces casting problems in strong cross or head winds. This series of reels is also versatile, capable of casting lures from five grams, making it ideal for black bass and pike with medium-sized lures, but also for zander and perch with smaller, lighter lures. Once you’ve tried the SG10, you’ll never go back.
Features: • EDP painted aluminum frame and housings • Accurate brake button • Separate stainless steel spool on model 250 • External centrifugal brake • DuraGrease • 9+1 stainless steel ball bearings (including two ARB Japanese BB) • Carbon handle • Two ratios available • Line-ID • Articulated housing on size 100 • Audible fight brake (noisemaker)
The adjustment of the weights on casting reels in size 100 is done by opening the side housing. The weights slide a few millimeters along their guide (there is a notch). By moving the weights away from the spindle, you increase centrifugal force and the spindle spins more freely. A too-free spool can cause the rotation to run away, resulting in a "backlash". Therefore, move the weights according to the lure's inertia, wind conditions, and the angler's skill. As a general rule, balance the weights. There are therefore four positions : * No weight engaged * Two opposing weights engaged * Three weights engaged in a triangle * All weights engaged
On sizes 250, the centrifugal brake system is magnetic. By turning the serrated knob opposite the handle, a series of small magnets move closer to or further from the spool. In position zero, the spool is completely free, at position 10 it is strongly braked. The angler, based on his skill, the lure's aerodynamics or the wind direction, can finely adjust the braking of the spool rotation, maximizing casting distances while reducing the risk of "backlash".
