The Metanium is a superb baitcasting reel that is in the high end of the Shimano range and fully uses a magnesium Core Solid body to reduce weight and increase rigidity. It also features the advanced MGL spool for improved casting performance. If you are an angler who values lightness, you will like the unique feeling that only reels with a magnesium body offer, or casting performances for all lure weights, then the new Metanium is worth its price. Although lightweight, the Core Solid body is remarkably strong and safe to use, giving you the impression that this reel can meet all challenges. That said, the MGL III spool and infinity SVS braking technology really come into their own with medium and light lures, where the low force required to turn the spool can be fully appreciated. Internally, the high-end Micromodule gear and the X-SHIP ensure great smoothness and power when pressed.
