Animation for non-lead-based squid jigs THE "TATAKI"! TATAKI is used in drift to survey a large surface. In general, you'll have more chances near rocks, seagrasses and wrecks, areas rich in food for cuttlefish and squids.
Mount the squid jigs in dropper loops, tying them with a knot directly to the main line. By spacing them 20 cm apart, you can mount 2 to 5 in this way. At the terminal end, choose a lead-based or vertical squid jig, depending on the current. The size of the squid jigs used can vary from 5 cm to 10 cm.
The animation remains simple and effective. It involves making the assembly vibrate in the different water layers in order to find the squid school. Start near the bottom by literally shaking your rod for about ten seconds. The squid jigs then mimic a school of fish in panic. Stop the animation and wait a few seconds. This is generally when cephalopods attack. If you don't get any bites, raise your rig a few meters and start again. By repeating this operation up to the surface, you thus precisely exploit each water layer.
Catching a cuttlefish will happen mainly near the bottom. The squid will put up a stronger fight than the cuttlefish. Strike firmly but bring your catch back gently so as not to tear the delicate tentacles.
You can secure the squid jigs to the main line with a 1 or 2 cm loop. The squid jig animation will then be wider and slower.
