The Palette Surgeonfish (Paracanthurus hepatus) is a beautiful marine fish with intense colours. Also known as the Hippo Tang, it is a very popular representative in the reef community. It is found in coral-rich areas of the Indo-Pacific region. The species lives in small groups or in pairs. Juveniles primarily feed on plankton and algae while adults are omnivorous. It is a coveted aquarium fish, although it is difficult to keep in captivity.
