The orca is the largest representative of the dolphin family in the order of cetaceans. The orcas, or killer whales, often gather in pods and have a cosmopolitan distribution. They are distinguished by their spotted black and white body. Their shape, powerful body, intelligence and behaviour are emblematic of a perfect predator. They are considered superpredators in regions where they are present. Orcas feed on marine mammals and fish. Killer whales are popular in aquariums but they do not fare well in captivity.
