CHARACTERISTICS Waterproof: The more waterproof the fabric is. Water-Repellent The water-repellent characteristics of a material must not be confused with its waterproofness: the water repellency of a fabric refers to its ability to allow water to bead on its surface without absorbing it. Water-repellency is not an intrinsic quality of the fabric but results from a hydrophobic treatment applied to the outer surface of the fabric. Normal wear and tear, detergents, and other impurities require a reactivation of the water-repellent treatment, or a renewal of the treatment.
Windproof The feeling of cold increases significantly with the wind. The coating and membrane applied to the back of your jacket's fabric form a barrier against the wind, allowing you to limit heat loss.
