The emperor angelfish (Pomacanthus imperator) is a beautifully coloured member of the Pomacanthidae family. The species has a wide Indo-Pacific distribution and can even be found in Hawaii. It reaches a length of about 40 cm and juvenile specimens have remarkably different patterns compared to adults. It is an omnivorous species and feeds on sponges, algae, and small organisms. The emperor angelfish is a very popular aquarium fish due to its wonderful colouring.
