Le Saumon Atlantique est le plus noble des représentants des salmonidés (Salmonidae). La distribution géographique de l’espèce, en Europe, inclus les eaux de la Scandinavie jusqu’au nord du Portugal. Le saumon passe la plupart de sa vie dans l’eau salé mais fait son retour a l’endroit où il est né dans les rivières. Un certain pourcentage des saumons meurent après cette migration, épuisés par la route. Le saumon est un vrai prédateur. Les jeunes spécimens se nourrissent des insectes, des larves et des invertébrés et les adultes chassent les autres poissons. Aujourd’hui, les populations Européennes des saumons sont très vulnérables. La plus grande menace provident de la pollution et le changement et l’obstruction des rivières.
