L'orque est le plus grand représentant de la famille de dauphins dans l'ordre des cétacés. Les orques, ou épaulard se tiennent souvent en bancs et ont une répartition cosmopolite. Elle se distingue par son corps noir et blanc tâché. Sa forme, son corps puissant, son intelligence et son comportement sont emblématiques d'un carnassier parfait. Elles sont considérées des superprédateurs dans les régions ou elles sont présentes. Les orques se nourrissent de mammiféres marins et de poissons. Les épaulards sont populaires dans les aquariums mais ils portent mal la captivité.
