What is an electronic training collar: The electronic training collar is a tool to help in the training of your dog. Indeed, it aims to help and support you in the training of your pet. The operating principle of an electronic training collar is simple. Most electronic collars operate on the same principle:
1- the dog is warned by one or more beeps for its bad behavior 2- if the dog persists in his unwanted and/or annoying behavior, he then receives a correction.
The correction, depending on the models of electronic collars, can occur in different ways: - by a spray jet (of citronella for example) - by vibrations - by ultrasound - by electrostatic stimulations*
* Collars emitting corrections by electrostatic stimulations do not emit real "electric shocks" as such, but electrostatic stimulations. Without danger for the dog and also without pain for him, the sensations felt by the animal are indeed more annoying than painful, which will encourage him to stop his bad behaviors.
Tips for use: A dog can learn basic orders as soon as it reaches the age of 8 weeks. Before considering the use of an electronic training collar, we strongly recommend teaching your pet in a so-called "natural" way (praise, petting, rewards, positive reinforcement...). With a little work and by spending time with your dog, you should be able to teach him the basic commands, without which life with your companion will be difficult (sit, lie down, leash walking, recall...).
Training your dog should start as early as possible, and you should regularly "maintain" his training to reinforce the acquired orders. An electronic training collar is just a tool to enforce orders and correct faults and undesired behaviors.
An electronic collar should not be used on a dog less than 6 months old. Excessive use of electronic training collars can lead to the opposite effect of the desired one, and lead to behavioral problems. We strongly advise you to read the instructions on the collar notices carefully. An electronic collar is indeed a very effective tool, but it is crucial to use it properly.
Use of the training collar for hunting: The training collar is widely used for hunting dogs. The dog is often far from his master and all his attention is on the game. It is therefore common for the animal not to respond to orders. The training collar, if the orders are understood by the dog, is often the solution.
It is frequently used in the following cases: • Dog recall • Prevent the dog from hunting too far • Refusal of certain Game (avoid the roe deer for example) • Safety: make a quick and effective order recall in case of danger for the animal (roads …)
