The Tench is a species from the carp family (cyprinidae) and is found in most watercourses in Europe, including England. The species prefers calm and warm waters with a lot of vegetation. They can measure up to 70cm and weigh around 7kg. The tench has a rather sturdy body and pronounced fins. It feeds on insects and invertebrates. The species is highly sought after by fishermen as it is considered the most beautiful of the cyprinids.
