What is an electronic training collar: The electronic dog training collar is an aid for your dog's education. It is indeed a tool aimed at helping and supporting you in training your dog. The principle of operation of an electronic training collar is simple. Most electronic collars work on the same principle:
1- the dog is warned by one or more beep sounds for its bad behavior 2- if the dog persists in his unwanted and/or disturbing behavior, he then receives a correction.
The correction, depending on the models of electronic collars, can occur in different ways: - by a spray mist (of citronella for example) - by vibrations - by ultrasounds - by electrostatic stimulations*
* The collars issuing corrections by electrostatic stimulations do not emit real "electric shocks" as such, but electrostatic stimulations. Without danger to the dog and also without pain for him, the sensations felt by the animal are indeed bothersome more than painful, which will encourage him to stop his bad behaviors.
Usage advices : A dog can learn basic orders as soon as it reaches the age of 8 weeks. Before considering the use of an electronic training collar, we strongly advise you to educate your companion in a so-called "natural" way (praise, caresses, rewards, positive reinforcement ...). With a little work and by spending time with your dog, you should be able to teach him the basic commands, without which life with your companion will be difficult (sit, lie down, leash walk, recall ...).
Your dog's training should start as soon as possible, and you need to regularly "maintain" his education to reinforce the acquired orders. An electronic training collar is only a tool used to strengthen orders and correct defects and unwanted behaviors.
An electronic collar should not be used on a dog aged less than 6 months. Excessive use of electronic training collars can result in the opposite effect of the desired one, and cause behavior problems. We strongly advise you to read the instructions indicated on the collar notices. An electronic collar is indeed a very effective tool, but it is crucial to use it correctly.
Use of the training collar for hunting : The training collar is widely used for hunting dogs. The dog is often far from his master and all his attention is on the game. It is therefore common that the animal does not respond to orders. The training collar, if the orders are understood by the dog, is often the solution.
It’s used frequently in the following cases: • Dog recall • Preventing the dog from hunting too far • Refusing certain game (avoiding deer for example) • Safety: making a quick and efficient recall in case of danger for the animal (roads…)
