The Bariki Shad was created to produce significant vibrations regardless of the retrieval speed. It is indeed capable of swimming at a very slow speed as well as at an accelerated pace. A vertical slot in the tail allows for the addition of a small diameter weighted insert to further amplify the vibrations produced by the lure. This slot can also be used for the insertion of a rattle (ball chamber) allowing high frequency sound to be associated with the lure's movements. Its dense material containing salt crystals and loaded with attractant makes it a fairly durable lure despite its soft rubber. This lure can be used either on a jig head or on a Texas size 5/0 (4.8) and 8/0 (6.8) hook (a ventral slit and another dorsal one favor the assembly of this type of hook). There is a slight extra thickness of material on the top of the lure which helps to protect the tip of a Texas hook from snags and suspended matter.
