The Bariki Shad was designed to produce significant vibrations regardless of the retrieval speed. Indeed, it can swim at very low speed as well as at a sustained pace. A vertical slot in the tail allows the addition of a weighted insert of small diameter to further amplify the vibrations produced by the lure. This location can also be used for the insertion of a rattle (ball chamber) to associate a high frequency sound with the lure's movement. Its dense material containing salt crystals and loaded with attractant makes it a fairly solid lure despite its soft rubber. This lure can be used as well on a jig head as on a Texas hook size 5/0 (a ventral slot and another dorsal one facilitate the assembly of this type of hook). Note a small extra thickness of material on the back of the lure to protect the point of a Texas hook from snags and suspended matter.
