The Red Piranha (Pygocentrus natteréri) is a freshwater predator. It is recognised as the most dangerous of the piranha family. It is native to South America, primarily from the Amazon. It's a very interesting aquarium fish that likes to live in groups with other piranhas. Since they are of aggressive nature, it can be an issue to integrate them with other fish species. The piranha needs an aquarium of sufficient volume, if possible with shadow areas to seek refuge. They have a carnivorous diet: ideally live prey.
