The Goldfish is one of the emblematic fish of the freshwater aquarium. It's a member of the carp family (Cyprinidae) and the species originates from Asia, where, in China for example, these fish have been selectively bred a thousand years ago. The different varieties of goldfish can display various colours and sizes. In many cultures and societies, goldfish symbolise good luck and prosperity.
