The Muskie (Musky) is the largest member of the pike family (Esocidae) and can reach up to 65 to 70 pounds. The species is primarily found in Canada and in the temperate waters of the northern United States. They are silver-green to olive in colour, with a dark back, and darker spots or vertical bars on the sides. Muskies have 6-9 sensory pore receptors on the underside of their jaws (compared to pikes which have 4-5), and have a forked and pointed rather than rounded tail and fins. Muskies mainly feed on fish, but they will also attack and eat ducks and waterfowl, amphibians and rodents. Hybrids of Pike and Muskie are called Tiger Muskies.
