BERMUDES Tested at sea and approved by great sailors such as Olivier de Kersauson or Erwan Tabarly, the Bermudes brand has been designing quality technical clothing since 1984 that draws its legitimacy and inspiration from the world of sailing!
CHARACTERISTICS Waterproof: The more waterproof the fabric. Your rain gear is chosen based on several criteria: the type of rain and the exposure time will help you define the waterproofing level of your rain suit. Thus, a jacket that is waterproof to 5000 mm of water should allow you to stay dry under a rain of 100 L/h/m² for more than 2 hours. The qualitative character of precipitation is difficult to assess, Météo-France considers that on our territory, heavy rain corresponds to a level of precipitation of 8 L/h/m², far from these records! Breathable The human body produces about 0.06 liters of water per hour at rest, and the more effort increases, the more the amount of water released will be significant. Breathability is a fabric's ability to wick away moisture created by the body during exercise. A fabric guaranteeing good breathability limits the condensation of water vapor inside the garment and keeps the body dry, know that even at rest and more intense effort.
Sealed It is not enough that the component of your jacket is waterproof to ensure you stay dry; the needle holes needed to assemble your jacket must be sealed to ensure perfect waterproofing of the product. Velcro, elastics and sleeves located at the ends also help to limit water entry. On our sealed pieces, you will find an example with the chart.
Water-Repellent Water-repellent features of a material should not be confused with its waterproofness: a fabric's water-repellency is its ability to let water bead on its surface, without absorbing it. Water-repellency is not an inherent quality of the fabric, but results from a hydrophobic treatment applied to the outer surface of the fabric; normal wear and tear, as well as detergents and other impurities require reactivation of the water-repellent treatment, or a renewal of the treatment.
Windproof The feeling of cold increases significantly with wind. The coating and membrane applied to the back of the fabric of your jacket serve as a barrier against the wind and therefore allow you to limit heat loss.
Semi-Watertight When it's bad weather, the upper part of your jacket is particularly exposed. That's why, for even more comfort and technicality, the main seams of your garment are sealed.
