The KA-BAR 1217 USMC is a legendary fixed blade knife. It was in 1942 that this knife was designated as the fixed blade combat knife for the soldiers of the U.S. Marine Corps. Since then, this knife has become a part of the equipment of many soldiers. This knife is rather large and appears very sturdy. The handle features a guard to prevent the hand from sliding onto the blade. The blade is made from 1095 carbon steel. This type of steel is not resistant to corrosion. The blade is thus coated with a black coating to facilitate maintenance. The handle is designed with stacked leather discs. This material is very comfortable, especially in cold weather.
