It's a group of decapod crustaceans. There are nearly 7 thousand species of crabs in the world. They are found in all oceans, freshwater and even in terrestrial habitats. Several crabs, like some in our collections, are accomplished swimmers and can swim in all directions. Crabs feed on small marine organisms and organic matter they find on the bottom. Crabs are important in the economies of several countries and are highly appreciated by chefs all around the world.
