All SMC PENTAX XW eyepieces provide an apparent field of view of 70° and an exceptionally long relief of 20 mm for wide perspective images.

• High level optics for outstanding image quality:
The high performance lenses of the XW range feature high refractive index and ultra low dispersion lanthanum glass elements for high contrast and minimum aberrations. These elements are designed to reduce annoying shadows appearing on the image by effectively compensating the spherical aberration of the pupil.

• Exclusive multi-layer coating by PENTAX for exceptional light transmission
All optical surfaces in contact with air benefit from a specific multi-layer treatment for effective reduction of parasitic reflections and ghost images with extremely high light transmission. In addition, all laminated surfaces receive partial treatment (a Pentax innovation) to provide light transmission exceeding 90% across the visible spectrum (and up to 96% at 550 nm).

• Glare-reducing technology for enhanced contrast
The XW series features glare-reducing technology significantly reducing light reflections for improved contrast.

• Weather-proof construction for uninterrupted observation
The XW range features a waterproof construction conforming to JIS Class 4* for use in drizzle or nocturnal dew conditions.
* The eyepieces of the XW range are not designed for underwater use and should not be immersed in water.

• American standard sleeve with built-in mounting adapter
The XW range is designed around the 31.7 mm American standard for easy installation on PENTAX spotting scopes. The removable rotating eyecup reveals a 43 mm diameter adapter thread with a 0.75 mm thread pitch.
